Authorized Distributor

The electronic component manufacturing industry generally promotes the use of Authorized Distributors for purchasing products. The main goal of recommending purchasing direct, or via authorized distributors, is for compliance and counterfeit avoidance.

The term “Authorized Distributor”, or ‘Franchised Distributor”, generally means that a company has met the specific requirements of a Manufacturer to become an authorized distributor.   An un-authorized distributor is considered a Seller.

Distributors can operate individually, as a master distributor  sub-distributor model, or as a company owned or independent distributor.  See the example below:
