Flat probe technology is a relatively new method of designing and manufacturing spring contacts. It is based on utilizing contemporary stamping, etching, or electroforming techniques to form test probe components from flat stock. The flat components can utilize an integral spring, or be combined (assembled) with a compression style coil spring and assembled into a spring contact probe or interconnect.
Flat technology is scalable in size, offers better repeat-ability during the manufacture of components, and is also able to be manufactured in very high volumes at a relatively low cost.
